About the job With magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), one can visualize the various anatomical structures of the heart, such as chambers, valves, and vessels, measure and calculate functional processes such as heart mobility and blood flow, and examine the tissue characteristics of the heart. As a senior research engineer, you will focus on the quantitative measurement and imaging of 1) the tissue characteristics of the heart with or without contrast agents, such as adipose tissue, connective tissue (fibrosis), and edema in and around the heart, and 2) the heart's function. Your responsibilities will also include working with the collection, storage, post-processing, and analysis of data, as well as interpreting results and writing scientific articles. The research is conducted in collaboration with other senior researchers and PhD students in the group. As a senior research engineer, you will conduct research, both in collaboration with others and in your own projects. Some teaching and supervision may also be included in your duties. About you We are looking for someone with strong communication skills who can easily collaborate with others while also having the ability to work independently. You should also have good English language skills, both spoken and written, as we are a multilingual department and project. We expect you to have: • A PhD or a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a PhD • Knowledge of handling and analyzing MRI and CT data, including machine and deep learning-based methods • Experience in cardiovascular MRI and CT, including applications in quantitative tissue characterization of the heart, such as measurement of adipose tissue, connective tissue (fibrosis), or T1 and T2 mapping It is advantageous if you have programming skills for analyzing MRI and CT data and/or for developing MRI and CT sequences. Your workplace You will work at the Department of Diagnostics and Specialist Medicine (DISP) (https://liu.se/organisation/liu/hmv/disp) and the Unit for Cardiovascular Sciences (KAV). The position is linked to the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (CMIV, www.liu.se/cmiv). CMIV is an interdisciplinary research center at Linköping University that conducts focused cutting-edge research within interdisciplinary projects that provide solutions to tomorrow's clinical questions. The interdisciplinary research group in cardiovascular imaging and modeling (CIM) (https://liu.se/forskning/kardiovaskular-bildtagning-och-modellering) within CMIV conducts technical development and application of advanced MRI and CT methods in the cardiovascular field, which is one of CMIV's focus areas.
