About Us
Umeå District Court is one of five district courts in the country that serves as a land and environmental court. The court has approximately 80 employees, of which over 30 currently work at the land and environmental court. The court reviews decisions under, among other laws, the Environmental Code, the Property Formation Act, and the Planning and Building Act, and also handles, as the first instance, matters concerning permits for environmentally hazardous activities and water operations. The jurisdiction of the land and environmental court covers the entire Norrbotten County, the majority of Västerbotten County, and a smaller part of Västernorrland County.
The Role
As a reporting lawyer, you will be responsible for preparing cases, conducting legal research, presenting cases for decisions, serving as the minute-taker at oral hearings, drafting proposals for judgments and decisions, and independently deciding simpler cases. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the judges, technical advisors, and court administrators of the land and environmental court.
Who We Are Looking For
You should have a law degree and be qualified as a notary when the position begins. We place great emphasis on legal competence, judgment, and the ability to collaborate. Knowledge in the court's areas of law and procedural law, as well as a genuine interest in the court's operational areas, is valuable. You also enjoy taking personal responsibility for driving cases to a decision and are willing to act as a central point of contact within and outside the court. We will place significant importance on personal attributes.
Employment Conditions
The position is a permanent employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. The work may involve some travel with overnight stays. The Swedish Courts apply individual salary setting. Start date will be agreed upon.
