Our employees work with both heart and mind to help Vårdförbundet's 117,000 members develop in their professions. Welcome to apply for the best job!
To Vårdförbundet and the Union Strength section, we are now seeking an inspiring and coaching union representative who wants to work to grow and strengthen union work and engagement within this vital societal function – healthcare. Could you be our future colleague?
About the Role
As a union representative at Vårdförbundet, you are part of a cohesive office working from a shared mission. You are expected to operate across the full breadth of the representative role, where labor law, party relations, and work environment form a natural foundation, with the Union Strength section focusing specifically on recruitment and organization.
The Union Strength section consists of a national team of 16 representatives who collectively work to increase membership and strengthen local union engagement across all sectors. As a union representative, you have a clear mandate to professionally represent the union and help elected representatives act confidently, strategically, and independently. The work requires a consultative and coaching approach, where you guide rather than take over. A crucial part of increasing union presence in workplaces is meeting members and elected representatives in their daily work environments.
Your responsibilities and tasks include:
• Recruiting new members and elected representatives through strategic and operational efforts
• Supporting and coaching elected representatives in their recruitment work
• Strengthening union presence in workplaces through dialogue, training, and visibility
• Developing methods and tools for membership recruitment and organization
• Following up results of various recruitment activities and initiatives
• Participating in negotiations and party dialogues regarding conditions, work environment, and union time – both supporting elected representatives and occasionally representing the union
• Contributing to developing working methods and shared processes for member-focused organization and party work
• Actively contributing to creating a positive and inclusive culture
Who Are You?
We seek someone with a college or university degree in a relevant field, preferably with experience in a similar role at another labor union or within civil society, where membership recruitment was a key part of your role. You have a good understanding of labor law principles, party relationships, and work environment practices and how these interact with local union assignments. You are experienced in coaching and training others and see it as natural to combine knowledge of rights and rules with the ability to engage and inspire union work. Experience and familiarity with health and medical service operations, preferably in the private sector, is meritorious.
You are a positive and proactive person with a solution-oriented approach. You work systematically and can independently drive your work forward while valuing collaboration and knowledge sharing. You have a coaching approach and are skilled at building trust and creating good relationships. Your attentiveness, commitment, and communication skills allow you to easily enthuse and motivate others. You are comfortable giving presentations and speaking to groups and are good at convincingly and inspirationally selling advantages.
We Offer
At Vårdförbundet, you'll work in an organization with strong social commitment and significant development potential. You'll become part of a competent and engaged office where trust, professionalism, balance, and job satisfaction are key words. Here, you'll have opportunities to both develop and influence.
This is a permanent position located at one of our offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Umeå, or Linköping. Travel is part of the job.
