We are looking for a Director of the Federation who wants to lead, develop, and shape the future of upper secondary schools in Jämtland County and make a real difference for students, employees, and the community.
About the Role:
As the Director of the Federation, you will be the highest-ranking official of the federation and a central force in leading, developing, and quality-assuring the operations on behalf of the board. You will be responsible for producing well-founded decision-making materials, implementing the board's decisions, and ensuring that the federation's governance, monitoring, and organization function in a professional and sustainable manner. You are expected to manage and further develop the organization during a time of change and have experience leading operations through development processes and change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the federation's principles for governance, management, monitoring, and control are followed.
• Lead and be responsible for the operations according to the organization established by the board.
• Keep the chairperson of the board informed about operations, development, and important issues within the organization.
• Make decisions on matters based on the federation's delegation framework.
• Collaborate with the board to drive efforts to improve goal fulfillment and develop and streamline the organization and working methods.
• Ensure high quality in education and promote a systematic quality assurance process that contributes to long-term and sustainable results.
• Attend board meetings and executive committee preparations.
• Monitor the external environment and identify issues of significance for the federation's operations and future assignments.
• Represent the federation in relevant contexts based on its mission/Represent the federation in external contexts and build good relationships with partners and authorities.
• Foster good relationships and open dialogue with students, guardians, employees, and the community at large.
Your Profile:
We are looking for candidates who have:
• A relevant university degree, preferably with a focus on education or equivalent qualifications assessed as comparable by the employer.
• Documented work experience from the education sector. Experience from upper secondary education, especially at a leadership level, is an advantage.
• Familiarity with working in a politically governed organization and an understanding of how political decisions impact operations.
• Experience in leadership and strategic work, preferably in various types of organizations or levels.
• A relevant network within the education sector is advantageous and can contribute to success in the role.
• Principal and/or school leader training is a plus.
• A valid driver's license (B category).

About Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund:
Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund consists of municipal upper secondary schools, adapted upper secondary schools, and some adult education. The federation's mission is to provide and be responsible for the upper secondary education of its member municipalities. The member municipalities are Berg, Bräcke, Krokom, Ragunda, Åre, and Östersund. We currently have approximately 4,000 students and 630 employees. Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund is an experienced provider of education with a long history in the field, a stable value base, and a flexible organization. The federation is organized into four principal areas and a federation office. We are led by a politically appointed board and have a management team consisting of the Director of the Federation, Chief Financial Officer, HR Manager, Planning Manager, Student Health Manager, and Area Managers.
