About this role
Stockholm – our capital city filled with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us in Järva!
Are you skilled at building relationships with young people and have the ability to identify those in need of support? Do you want to be part of Järva's district administration's large and dedicated field operations? Then this job is for you!
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, solution-oriented, and wants to contribute to the development of our field operations.
As a field assistant, you will work closely with young people, building trust, exploring needs, offering support, or helping them access additional assistance.
In our organization, the social services' preventive activities, reception, and family law are gathered within one area: First-line social services. This area consists of five units, with the field operations being one of them. Here, all our field assistants work towards a common goal – to be there for young people when they need us the most.
Our vision: "Help when needed – or even before."
This vision reflects not only our working methods but also the intentions of the new social services act regarding early interventions, preventive work, and individual participation. We strive to make it easy for residents to know where to turn for support.
Now, with the new social services act, there is a unique opportunity to influence and shape the future working methods within field operations. Do you want to make a difference? Apply for the position of field assistant with us!
We offer
As an employee with us, you will receive a wellness allowance and have the opportunity to take advantage of favorable offers from several gym chains and swimming pools. Please read more about our benefits on Benefits Stockholm City.
The role of field assistant
The role of a field assistant involves working in environments where young people begin to form their independence and adult identity, such as on streets and squares, in schools, at youth centers, meeting points, and other places where young people gather in the evenings, on weekends, and during the day. Relationships with young people are built on voluntary engagement, trust, and respect.
Field operations are focused on monitoring the environment and promoting safety. You will work both proactively and in systematic collaboration within your own department and with external organizations such as schools, police, and civil society. You will work to strengthen young people's belief in the future and their empowerment, as well as to support and motivate them towards positive change. The organization is currently focusing particularly on violence prevention work, for example through structured methods like MVP (Mentors in Violence Prevention), in collaboration with schools.
Experience and qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
A completed degree in social work.
It is advantageous to have:
Experience working as a field assistant or otherwise with youth, group activities, and in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas.
To succeed in this role, you need to easily build relationships, have a strong understanding of youth issues, work with risk and protective factors, mental and physical health, as well as socially destructive behavior. You should also have insight into the importance of drug prevention work. Good communication with parents is also a vital part of the job.
The work requires you to be flexible and solution-focused. You should be confident, stable, and possess good self-awareness. We expect you to work well in a team but also have the ability to independently drive your own processes. You will plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. Collaboration is important in the role of a field assistant, both within social services and with other departments within the administration, as well as with other partners such as the police and civil society.
You will be part of a workgroup that values your knowledge and contributions!
Your application
Interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis.
We are recruiting without a personal letter in this recruitment process to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and succinctly to the questions, ensuring a clear connection between your answers and your CV. Stockholm City works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thereby counteracting discrimination.
