IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute is a foundation-owned research institute offering unique expertise in environmental and sustainability areas, see www.ivl.se. The Research Unit at IVL supports the organization through support and strategies. We are a small team that responds to research-related questions, collects statistics on research-related goals, engages in dialogue with the Government Offices about our state funding, and plans and implements activities to become more effective in attracting research funds, including establishing a Grants Office that consolidates our support functions. We work in project form, either through internal projects or ongoing externally funded research projects.
About the RoleYou will become part of the research unit and support the organization by working with support and strategies, with a special focus on EU funding. Additionally, you will devote half of your time to project work, primarily related to the EU. Often, you will be involved in developing projects from idea to approved application. You will support the application process and work in projects where new knowledge and innovative solutions are developed. In approved projects, you will primarily work in leading roles as a project manager or work package leader.
In the role of an expert, teamwork is more important than individual work because we at the research unit both support our colleagues in the organization and are involved in setting up and working on projects. Understanding existing external and internal research agendas is necessary, as projects are merely a means to achieve overarching objectives. To succeed in the role and in developing new project opportunities and driving projects through various choices, dialogue must occur together with the unit manager and colleagues within the institute. Results and insights are communicated both orally and in writing to various stakeholders.
Who Are You?You are a person with research and business experience in one or more areas of environment and sustainability. You should have a higher education degree and have worked strategically and practically with EU projects. Work within an EU platform is highly meritorious.
You have an extensive network and the ability to secure projects with EU funding. In projects, you deliver high-quality work beneficial to society and Swedish industry. It is important that you are proactive and can make things happen even in complex contexts, such as projects involving many different parties. You will often work with colleagues from other parts of IVL. You should be a curious and committed person who wants to make a difference together with others. You have excellent communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
