About this role

Lerum Municipality is known for its scenic locations with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents, but expects to grow significantly in the coming years. Lerum is only a 20-minute commute from Gothenburg and is currently facing a development-intensive period with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. The municipality is committed to ensuring good service, high welfare, and a thriving business climate. Dagens Samhälle has recently named Lerum the winner in the category of large urban municipalities (2025) - an award based on a comprehensive comparison of 290 Swedish municipalities in areas such as education, healthcare, economy, culture and leisure, attractiveness, business, and future factors like digitalization and civil preparedness. We are now a Super Municipality! Lindénska School is Lerum Municipality's resource school for students who require special support in the form of an adapted learning environment due to a lasting and comprehensive disability. The school serves 25 students divided into lower, middle, and upper grades. It is located in two separate buildings close to Stenkulans School. The workplace is organized into three teams. Each team consists of teachers, resource educators, and student assistants. The teams work closely with the school's student health team, which includes special teachers, special educators, a counselor, a school nurse, a career counselor, and a school psychologist. Lindénska School aims to provide students with the conditions necessary to achieve the goals outlined in the curriculum. All staff at the school contribute to this work, and student learning is the focus of all efforts made at the school. Our students should be active participants in their learning process. Being willing to try and learn from mistakes is also part of the learning experience. We want students to feel empowered to take initiative, explore different ways of learning, and express their own opinions in ways that they feel comfortable with. The goal is for learning to occur in a social context. All teaching should, to the greatest extent possible, take place in groups, and only in exceptional cases should teaching occur separately. If this does happen, the aim is to create a situation as soon as possible where the student's need for a socially accessible learning environment is met. At Lindénska School, we also aim to create opportunities for learning that better equip students for the opportunities and challenges of life. This requires all staff to work towards developing clear leadership and an inclusive approach. JOB DESCRIPTION You will work as a teacher in Swedish and English and serve as a mentor for a small group of students in grades 4-9, placed in the team for grades 7-9. Your responsibilities include teaching the students in the group and also ensuring the students' learning environment. As a teacher, you will also be responsible for ensuring that the other staff are well acquainted with the activities and instruction that will take place during the school day. Therefore, you are expected to be a skilled and unpretentious team player who always prioritizes the best interests of the students. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for an experienced teacher with qualifications in Swedish and English, preferably with broader subject didactic competence, who is curious about discovering students' motivations for learning. If you are a special teacher or have special educational qualifications, this is an advantage. Having additional subjects such as home economics is a significant benefit. We seek a driven and attentive individual who sees collaboration with colleagues and guardians as a natural part of working with students. OTHER The development in Lerum Municipality should be sustainable, and our governance is based on the global goals of Agenda 2030. We believe that our differences enrich and positively develop the individual, the organization, and society. As an employer, Lerum Municipality actively works for equality and diversity and against all forms of discrimination and degrading treatment. We prioritize a good working environment where you can balance work and leisure. As an employee with us, you will have access to a range of benefits, such as wellness grants and employee care programs.
