About this role
Strömstad Municipality is a small and close-knit organization where everyone is important and works together to deliver the best possible service.
The mission of the Department of Children and Education is to provide education for the personal and academic development of children and students. We operate based on the holistic idea that learning and development occur through safety, joy, enthusiasm, and engagement. We work together to ensure that all educational activities are grounded in scientific research and proven experience.
Do you want to be part of driving school development and making a real difference in children's learning and development? With us, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop activities where engagement, participation, and student focus are at the center. As a principal, you will be a key person in this work.
We are now looking for a principal for Mellegården and Rossö schools - two smaller schools in scenic environments, with dedicated staff and curious students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In your role as principal, you will lead the systematic quality work at the schools. By developing and anchoring methods that promote pedagogical progression, collegial learning, and a shared responsibility for the quality of teaching, you contribute to creating good conditions for students' learning and development. You will ensure that teaching is based on scientific research and proven experience, as well as being tailored to the actual needs and circumstances of the students.
Your managerial responsibilities include oversight of staff, operations, finances, and the work environment. You lead through trust, clarity, and collaboration, playing an important role in creating engagement and participation among both students and staff. The role also includes contact with authorities and other external stakeholders.
As principal, you will be supported by an assistant principal who shares leadership responsibilities with you. Together, you will build a strong and cohesive leadership team that drives the development of the schools forward and creates the best conditions for students' safety, well-being, and learning.
You will be part of the municipality's joint management team for primary school grades F6, along with other principals and assistant principals.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a teaching degree and a strong desire to drive school development in collaboration with others. It is advantageous if you have completed or started the government principal training program. Experience in other leadership roles within education is required unless you are currently working as a principal.
You have a good understanding of school operations, legislation, and the challenges that school leadership entails. To succeed in this role, you are accustomed to handling various IT systems and possess strong digital competence. You communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
For you, it is important to work in a structured and analytical manner. You prioritize and plan based on the needs of the organization and can manage complex situations with calmness and professionalism.
Your leadership is characterized by trust, openness, and a genuine commitment to both students and staff. You have a strong ability to build professional relationships, create engagement, and drive development in collaboration with others.
Selection and interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. The planned date for interviews is tentatively set for Tuesday, December 16.
We warmly welcome your application!
