Together, we create a workplace where everyone can thrive. We are looking for an enthusiastic Study and Career Counselor to join our team in Mälardalen. The main location is Västerås, but we also serve Eskilstuna and occasionally Avesta both digitally and with physical visits. We seek someone who, like us, is driven to provide people with a future and a pathway into the labor market. We do this by offering vocational training and SFI, sometimes in combination. We are now looking for a SYV (Study and Career Counselor) to join our team of teachers and the principal, who will accompany students on their educational journey at Astar, from start to finish. Your role is to provide our students with the right conditions to make informed and well-founded choices regarding studies and careers. Through certain administrative tasks, you will ensure that both the student and the education follow the plan. The position includes standard responsibilities within the SYV profession, but here you also have the chance to strengthen both individuals and the labor market. We provide our students with an opportunity for the next step in life. The administrative part includes, among other things, managing emails, processing applications, assisting applicants in establishing and modifying individual study plans, writing adaptation proposals together with students in need of support, as well as preparing and issuing final grades and high school diplomas. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: - A degree in Study and Career Counseling and experience working as a Study and Career Counselor in adult education, guiding individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. You have knowledge and insight into relevant governing documents, regulations, methods, and procedures within the field of adult education, as well as experience supporting and motivating adult students. - Strong verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English. - Good digital competence. It is advantageous if you have: - Experience working as a Study and Career Counselor in municipal adult education. - Experience working with a private education provider delivering adult education. - Good knowledge of eligibility requirements and regulations regarding high school diplomas from Komvux. - Experience working with individuals in need of support. - Strong administrative skills, with familiarity in using various administrative programs such as Alvis. - Proficiency in languages other than Swedish and English. We also expect you to be: - Engaged, empathetic, and service-oriented. - Detail-oriented and capable of independently planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work. - Responsible and contribute to a positive work environment. You should easily establish connections and create good relationships with students, as they are at the center of our operations. You should also be able to see opportunities, be flexible and structured, and have strong collaboration skills.
