OK and OKK are part of the Intensive and Perioperative Care (IPV) area in Malmö. OK is a highly specialized surgical department with a large acute surgery unit and a preoperative department. Patient flow is high with 24/7 operations, and we work together in teams with nursing assistants, nurses, and physicians. OK works closely with surgical specialties including urology, general surgery, vascular surgery, and transplantation. The department's mandate also includes anesthesia service for the Diagnostic Center and emergency preparedness for 50,000 patients.
OKK is a highly specialized surgical department focused on women's surgery, breast, intestinal, and abdominal wall surgery. Acute surgery operates around the clock. The department includes a postoperative unit staffed collaboratively with the pre- and postoperative unit within the area, led by its own unit manager. We work here in teams with nursing assistants, nurses, and physicians.
DUTIES
We are seeking two unit managers, one for OK and one for OKK, who want to lead and develop our operations and employees. In close collaboration with other unit managers in the anesthesia-operation area in Malmö, you will together create the path for future healthcare.
OK currently has around 150 employees led by four unit managers in a shared leadership model. OKK has over 60 employees with a similar shared leadership approach. For successful leadership, we believe that collaboration, respect, lack of prestige, and job satisfaction are key success factors.
As a unit manager, you will be responsible, together with your colleagues, for driving nursing care according to the latest evidence. Important collaboration partners include other unit managers, physician unit managers, section chiefs, area managers, and section chiefs for the operating specialties.
You will be responsible for personnel, economics, and operations. This means working with your colleagues to see the big picture, be development-oriented, think innovatively to achieve medical results within given financial frameworks. You will strive to provide the right care at the right time and facilitate research, education, and development. You are expected to lead with a present leadership style, driving and creating participation in change processes with patient needs at the center. To be successful, we believe you have a coaching approach with the ability to create engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You should be able to create dialogue, coach employees, and have the courage and desire to lead, drive change, and make decisions. We require creativity and willingness to find new ways of leading and working. You understand the importance of collaboration to achieve common goals and have the ability to delegate. We place great importance on personal suitability.
A relevant university degree, preferably in healthcare, is required. Good Swedish language skills are necessary. For licensed professionals, Swedish language skills at least at level C1 according to the European Framework are required.
Previous leadership experience is advantageous. Experience in anesthesia and/or surgical care is meritorious. Leadership and work environment training is desirable.
