About this role

Department Description The position is located in the Technology Department within the Urban Development and Technology Administration. The department is responsible for providing residents with services in the areas of water/sewage, streets, traffic, fiber, and waste management. The unit is characterized by broad expertise and a team spirit based on the Gällivare Municipality's core values. Development issues are important to us, with the goal of further strengthening Gällivare as an attractive municipality to live and work in. We continuously work on improving work processes in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will be part of a team working to ensure that our municipality is maintained in a good and safe condition. Job Responsibilities The unit consists of approximately 18 staff members. You will lead and support the staff in a strategic and operational manner to develop the unit through planning, management, and resource allocation. As unit manager, you have responsibility for operations, finances, and personnel. You will be assisted by two operations managers, and your work will be done in collaboration with them and other departments. Your main tasks include managing and developing water and sewage processes while actively contributing to achieving the municipality's and administration's overall goals. Key future challenges include ensuring sustainable water supply/wastewater treatment and driving forward pipeline network renewal. Water supply is a crucial issue for the municipality, requiring collaboration with many stakeholders. Representing the municipality and engaging in dialogue and providing information about the operations is therefore an important part of the job. You may participate in new and renovation projects within the unit and have your own planning and investigation assignments. You will work as a requirements setter for contractors and participate in various types of procurement with the support of purchasing staff. In collaboration with the administration's staff, you will follow up, develop, and evaluate contracts and cooperation with contractors. Qualifications You have a relevant university degree or other education and experience that the employer deems suitable. Experience with similar tasks in the water and sewage area is meritorious, as is experience working in a politically governed organization. You see opportunities, are open to new thinking, and can motivate your employees. You should have a coaching leadership style that inspires both colleagues and employees to close collaboration. You are structured and driven, with the ability to both manage and develop work within your own unit and across the administration. It is important that you have the ability and interest to handle economics and operations from a sustainability perspective. Your contact with the public and contractors requires good communication skills and the ability to feel comfortable meeting people and being motivated by a service and customer-oriented approach.
