About this role

Job Responsibilities Do you want to help lead the work to reduce homelessness in the city? Then this is the job for you! At the Outreach Unit, our goal is to reduce homelessness in Gothenburg. The field social workers in the operation work outreach and meet people experiencing homelessness, sleeping outside or at risk of sleeping outside. A significant part of the field social workers' work is to motivate and encourage the individuals they meet to accept the help and support available to exit homelessness. The operation is characterized by good knowledge of various social actors and available support, collaboration with authorities and healthcare institutions, and relationship-building with the individuals we meet and our partners. As part of the work towards a long-term housing solution, we also provide overnight accommodations in our own operation and through the non-profit sector. These overnight places serve as a harm reduction solution to alleviate distress and are not considered a long-term housing solution, but part of the work towards finding a sustainable housing situation that meets individual needs. The operation runs day, evening, and weekend, every day of the year. The work is done in close collaboration with social services, social emergency services, non-profit sector, healthcare, and other authorities. The Outreach Unit has 13 field social workers. Pending necessary decisions, your responsibilities will also include Hulda's House. This is a meeting place for women living in homelessness and vulnerability. The mission is to motivate and guide women to the right support and interventions to help them exit homelessness. Hulda's House has four field social workers and one cleaning staff. As unit manager, you will have overall responsibility for the operation, including personnel, budget, and operational management. You will ensure that we reach our goals and that the operation is run according to the client's requirements and the city's homelessness strategy. You will continuously work to develop the operation at individual, group, and city levels, as well as lead and participate in internal and external collaborations. You will become part of the management team for the Collective Housing and Outreach Housing and Homelessness department. The department consists of six unit managers and a department head, characterized by a good collaborative climate and mission focus. Are you ready for a challenge where you can make a difference? Welcome to apply! Qualifications The basic requirement is a minimum three-year university degree in social work or another education that the employer deems equivalent. You have management experience and good knowledge of the target group. We consider it meritorious if you have held a leadership position in operations where collaboration between different actors was central. We also consider it meritorious if you have completed the Tomorrow's Manager program. You are clear, gain support for thoughts and ideas, and can influence decisions in a certain direction. Through convincing arguments, you can contribute enthusiasm and energy that encourages good performance, team spirit, and increased motivation. You are attentive and open to understanding other people's needs, feelings, and opinions. You are receptive to what others say or express and show respect, consideration, and care in your approach. You see setbacks as something to learn from. You can see your work as part of a larger context and understand how it affects and is affected by other parts of the organization. You collaborate with others on overarching issues to create value. You consider different information sources and perspectives and can adapt others' ideas to your own operation. You are comfortable in social situations. You stand by made decisions and can communicate uncomfortable messages when needed. Instead, during the application process, you will be asked to answer several questions about your competence in the requested area. Interviews are planned for December 3-4.
