The Material and Local Supply Department is responsible for the material aspect of the authority's capabilities. This means that the department has an overarching responsibility and coordinates tasks related to requirements specification, procurement, maintenance, and decommissioning of the Coast Guard's materials and facilities. The department consists of five units with around 80 employees. The department also includes functions for the authority's shipping operations. The Technology Development Unit currently consists of 18 employees primarily based in Karlskrona and is responsible for requirements specification and procurement of technology and materials in areas including vessels, boats, vehicles, personal and special equipment, and underwater materials. The unit is also responsible for system management during the maintenance phase for certain material systems. The authority is an active part of the total defense and constitutes an important component of the civil preparedness system. The Technology Development Unit is in an exciting and developing phase, as several major material projects are underway. **Responsibilities** As the unit manager for the Technology Development Unit, you will have personnel, operational, and budget responsibilities. As the head of the Technology Development Unit, you will take responsibility for your own operations, formulate goals and assignments that you communicate to your employees. You will have a holistic perspective in your work, which means a good understanding of how your unit's work fits into a larger context. You will structure information, create oversight, describe, regulate, and follow up on the unit's operations. Through good and trustful leadership with clear communication and a coaching approach, you will drive and develop both employees and the unit's work forward. Your responsibilities will include undertaking business trips primarily within Sweden but also abroad. **Qualifications** We are looking for someone with a post-secondary education, such as a Master of Science in Engineering or Marine Engineering, or another qualification deemed equivalent by the employer, along with documented several years of relevant experience in a leadership role.
