The Precision Medicine Laboratory (PL) within the Diagnostics Center at Region Östergötland is seeking a unit manager. Job Description The role includes employer responsibility for approximately 25 employees within PL, primarily with laboratory-related tasks. You will collaborate closely on both operational and strategic issues with the operations manager and representatives from specialty clinics within laboratory medicine, which are the main clients of PL. As a unit manager, you will be responsible for production/operations, personnel, finances, and work environment within your assignment and report to the operations manager. The managerial role also includes driving the unit in a quality-assured and resource-efficient manner, collaborating with other departments within laboratory medicine, and setting goals and following up on results for your unit. You will be part of the management team for PL, which provides you with excellent opportunities to influence the development of the entire organization. Work Group At PL, the molecular biology expertise within the Diagnostics Center is gathered to further enhance the capacity to drive development in the field. PL employs various professional categories, including biomedical analysts, biologists, and bioinformaticians. The organization's mission is to perform and develop analyses for all specialty clinics within laboratory medicine, such as pathology, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, chemistry, as well as immunology and transfusion medicine. The work within the organization is varied with good development opportunities and takes place in an environment that is advanced in terms of analyses and instrumentation. The organization is research-intensive, and method and operational development are a natural part of the work. About You We are looking for someone with relevant education for the role who has prior experience in leadership and/or management with personnel responsibility. Experience in laboratory operations is highly desirable. It is also advantageous if you have experience working with molecular biological analyses and team and organizational development. You are proficient in both Swedish and English, spoken and written. You are collaborative, service-oriented, and capable of building strong relationships, as well as seeing opportunities in change, being solution-focused, and adapting to changing circumstances.
