About this role
The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aim to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.
Within the area of personal assistance, there are currently 350 employees who daily provide individually tailored assistance characterized by high quality, continuous improvement, and making a difference in people's lives in accordance with the intentions of the LSS Act. The personal assistance aims to enhance opportunities for 70 users throughout the municipality, including Holmsund, Sävar, and Hörnefors, to live an independent life based on their circumstances.
We are now seeking an engaged and courageous unit manager for personal assistance. Are you the one we are looking for?
Your Responsibilities
As a unit manager with us, you will be part of a group of 15 managerial colleagues, and you will be responsible for operations, users, staff, and finances. Your primary mission is to ensure that we conduct our operations with high quality, where our employees provide the best support to our users. The services are performed in the users' homes, which requires you to be a present manager at a distance. The managerial role with us is developmental and flexible; you will work with both quality and personnel issues, and you will have the opportunity to influence the development within the area of operations.
Your tasks may include, for example:
- Systematically following up to ensure that the goals for quality, work environment, and finances are achieved
- Ensuring that agreed activities are implemented
- Providing guidance and feedback to employees in their work so that care work develops
- Communicating values and encouraging dialogue, collaboration, and learning.
Of course, there are moments when the unit manager role is challenging. One such challenge may be the current labor shortage, and you will need to work on personnel planning, staffing, and recruitment.
As support in your work, you have your fellow unit managers; you are part of a team where you engage in dialogue and collaborate on common issues. You will report to the deputy operations manager, who will follow up and support you in your role. There are also support functions within administration, finance, and HR.
About You
We are looking for someone with a higher education degree, preferably in social work or human resources, or another relevant qualification. You have previous experience as a manager, and we would like you to have experience in the field of personal assistance or experience from healthcare and social services.
As a unit manager, you often work in a fast-paced environment, and you will experience that conditions can change rapidly. To thrive in this role, you must appreciate being challenged and be solution-focused as a person. You are clear in your leadership role, and you work purposefully and systematically with continuous improvements. You are also unpretentious and capable of prioritizing in pressured situations.
As a manager in Umeå Municipality, we want you to represent the municipality in a trustworthy and positive manner. You focus on citizen benefit and engage in dialogue with your employees about goals and plans so that they understand their role and significance for the whole. It is also important that you uphold shared values and serve as a role model for your employees. You encourage your employees to be curious, creative, and collaborative, and you highlight both the individual employee and the work team.
What You Get with Us:
- Close collaboration and support from colleagues, managers, and HR
- A management and leadership development program
- Continuous professional development
- Flexible working hours
- Subsidized wellness programs
