About this role

State Institutions Board (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial problems and adults with addiction. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with addiction, across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create vital change. SiS Youth Home Långanäs receives non-compulsory school-aged boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and addiction. Job Description Do you want to make a difference for vulnerable people? SiS Youth Home Långanäs is opening a new department in early 2026 and is therefore now seeking a Unit Manager who wants to contribute to vital change! At SiS Youth Home Långanäs, we currently have four departments - one MBB department and three locked departments. The new department, which will be the institution's fifth, will be an open department. SiS is in the midst of a comprehensive transformation where the organization is developing on multiple levels simultaneously. We develop and adapt our work based on new and changing needs in both society and our own organization. We know that developing and committed managers are a crucial prerequisite for managing today's and future assignments. As a Unit Manager, you will lead, plan, follow up, and refine the work on the department to achieve set goals. As a Unit Manager, you have overall treatment responsibility for the young people staying in the department. You are responsible for ensuring that common working methods and approaches are used and followed, and support employees in their work. You ensure that employees have the competence for the care and treatment the department provides and the conditions to perform their tasks in a good and safe work environment. As a Unit Manager, you have operational, personnel, and budget responsibility for the department's 12 employees. To create a stable and efficient department management, your department also includes a Group Leader and a Treatment Secretary, in addition to yourself. The Group Leader's primary task is to plan, coordinate, and operationally lead and distribute daily work on the department, as well as support the department's employees in their work. The Treatment Secretary's task is to coordinate and plan care and treatment for the children and young people cared for in the department. Together, you form a department team that leads the department in close collaboration. You are part of the institution's management group, where you, together with the institution's chief and your managerial colleagues, share responsibility for the entire operation. As a new employee at SiS, you will undergo basic training to provide you with the right conditions in your new role. In addition, we have other internal training that you as a new manager will attend, such as workplace environment and leadership. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: • Academic degree of at least 180 credits in social science, care, or behavioral science, or another relevant academic degree. • Several years of experience working in operations focused on care, treatment, and security, such as social services, care and treatment, correctional services, or other relevant operations. • Documented current experience in a management role. • B driver's license It is meritorious if you have: • Experience in management with operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel management. Since the operation is often event-driven, you need to be comfortable making decisions, reprioritizing, and quickly changing both pace and direction. You remain calm and professional even in challenging situations and have the ability to adapt to changing conditions. At the same time, high demands are placed on having a holistic view and being able to work structured and systematically to ensure care quality based on the agency's goals, guidelines, values, and applicable laws. You know how to prioritize and easily set and follow up on results. To be suitable for the role, we want you to take responsibility for the whole and realize SiS's vision and goals. You create conditions for good results and tackle challenges and act with courage when needed. You are a good role model and show trust in your employees' and colleagues' competence, encouraging them to develop and take personal responsibility. You involve your employees in our development work and create conditions for active employee participation and a learning organization. You promote good collaboration within SiS and with other partners. You are communicative and create dialogue, participation, and engagement. At SiS, we care about good leadership. This means that as a manager and leader, you take responsibility for the whole, act as a good role model, drive development, promote good collaboration, and are clear in your communication.
