The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality wants to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.
Ordinary housing is organized within Disability Care Services, which includes short-term supervision, short-term stays, relief services, and home care for children, as well as the National Upper Secondary School for children and young people. We also have services for adults such as daily activities/occupations, housing support for those over 18. Today, we have six short-term housing facilities and 4 short-term supervision activities in the municipality with different focuses for children and young adults. We offer a safe environment with opportunities for social community in adapted settings. Our activities provide opportunities to create new relationships and perhaps try new things. Great importance is placed on creating meaningful days and stays and positive experiences through various activities, individually or in groups. We also work to ensure children are participative and independent according to their age and circumstances.
Your Responsibilities
As a unit manager with us, you are responsible for operations, children/young adults, staff, and finances. The main task is to ensure that we conduct high-quality activities where our employees provide the best support to those we encounter. Your duties will include:
- Running operations where both staff and children thrive and feel well, with arenas for participation and co-creation as part of everyday life
- Responsibility for achieving goals and implementing decided activities
- Ensuring systematic work within the operation regarding operational goals, work environment, quality, finances, etc.
- Budget/financial work
- Staff planning, staffing, and recruitment
- Providing employees with guidance and feedback to develop care work
- Communicating values, encouraging dialogue and collaboration
You will report to the Deputy Operations Manager and be part of a group with 17 fellow managers. Your workplace is centrally located in Umeå on Rådhusesplanaden, but present leadership requires that you regularly visit and be present in your operations.
About You
We are looking for someone with a university degree, preferably in social work or another behavioral-oriented field. We want you to have management experience and experience with the target group in disability care, preferably with short-term stays/supervision and working with children/youth. Experience with children/youth with challenging behavior is particularly meritorious.
As a unit manager, you often work at a high pace and must be prepared for conditions that can change quickly. To enjoy the assignment, you must appreciate being challenged and be solution-focused. You are clear in your leadership role and work goal-oriented and systematically with continuous improvements. You are also unpretentious and able to prioritize in pressured situations.
As a manager in Umeå Municipality, we want you to represent the municipality in a credible and positive way.
