About this role
Make a difference. Every day.
Do you want to be challenged and develop within a specialist psychiatric operation where clinical competence and participation are high? The Unit for User-Directed Admission (BI) in Kristianstad is seeking its first unit manager.
The adult psychiatry area in Kristianstad provides specialist psychiatric care in the northeastern and southeastern municipalities of Skåne and consists of approximately 380 employees. Despite the large geographical spread, our operations are characterized by proximity and short decision-making paths. Within the area, we work on developments in OCD, self-harm, eating disorders, neuropsychiatry, addiction treatment, interaction, patient forums, psychosis care, reducing coercion in 24-hour care, meaningful activities within 24-hour care, and more. Additionally, we have a well-functioning collaboration internally and externally with municipalities and other healthcare providers, as well as good cooperation among ourselves.
User-Directed Admission (BI) is a crisis intervention aimed at preventing serious negative events such as self-harm or suicide attempts, or alternatively breaking an episode of deteriorating mental health at an early stage. Patients have the opportunity to sign a contract with the healthcare system, allowing them to admit themselves for up to three days at a time, up to three times per month. During their stay, patients manage their own medications and must develop a care plan with staff at the time of admission, detailing the goals for their stay on the unit. BI patients do not meet with a physician and cannot adjust their medications during admission. According to BI, patients have the opportunity to have support conversations with unit staff for about 20 minutes at two occasions per day. User-Directed Admission (BI) has been available in Kristianstad for many years, and we now hope to further develop the concept in order to enhance the quality of the intervention for patients.
Until September of this year, we offered user-directed beds integrated with regular care beds in a general psychiatric department. Through regular follow-up of the BI beds, it became apparent that this structure was not optimal for either the individual patient or the unit. To promote clarity, the operation has now opened BI beds in a dedicated unit. The goal is for the BI unit to be available every day of the week with continuous evaluation for decision-making on how to further develop BI, in terms of structure, routines, and content.
At our workplace, we prioritize a good organizational culture, and our daily routines are infused with the shared values of Region Skåne: welcoming, driven, caring, and respectful. We seek a unit manager with the desire and enthusiasm to lead patient-centered care!
