You Can Make History Meaningful for More! The National Historical Museums (SHM) is seeking an engaged and driven manager for the newly established Security and Facilities Unit. About the Position The unit, which will be responsible for work related to security, preparedness, management, development, and facility agreements, is part of the Operations Support Department. The department has approximately 30 employees who manage a significant portion of the agency's infrastructure – including finance, HR, facilities, security, IT, procurement, archives, registry, and legal affairs. The unit is newly established and consists of six employees. At SHM, work in security, preparedness, and facility development is highly prioritized, and we work intensively to develop and coordinate preventive efforts in this area. Upcoming major projects include emergency planning for peacetime and heightened alert situations, developing permanent facilities for the Swedish Museum of the Holocaust, and ensuring fire protection for the Hallwyl House, which we manage. Responsibilities/Areas As the unit manager, your mission is to coordinate, develop, and manage the agency's tasks in security, preparedness, facilities, and property management while ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements. Your responsibilities include planning, prioritizing, and following up on projects, development initiatives, and procurements in the area. Proactive work is a high priority. You will have strategic, tactical, and operational roles within the area. You have operational, personnel, and budget responsibility for the unit and report to the department head. You will actively work on environmental monitoring, which, combined with a comprehensive understanding of the agency's needs, provides a solid basis for future development. Collaboration with other agencies and landlords in the area is crucial for mission success. Under your leadership, the agency will be professional, clear, and forward-looking in matters within the unit's area of responsibility. Internal collaboration within the agency is of great importance in this role. Through inclusive leadership, you will enable both employees and the organization to grow. In the role, you will focus on the overall best interest while leading your unit towards set goals and priorities. Good organizational skills and the ability to work in complex contexts are prerequisites for success in the role. Your role also involves extensively supporting, motivating, and developing the competencies of the unit and department. Qualifications We are seeking someone with many years of experience and high competence in the work areas described above. It is meriting to have worked with these issues in the museum sector at an agency-wide level, to have a well-developed national network in the area, and to have experience in a leadership role. Employment Terms This is a permanent position that may begin with a six-month probationary period. Start date is by agreement. You will work in our office located at Storgatan 41 in Stockholm. It also includes the contract operation Archaeologists, with offices in five different locations in the country. The National Historical Museums are tasked with promoting knowledge about and interest in Swedish history and preserving and developing the cultural heritage managed by the agency.
