About the job
You will manage a unit that, together with its sister unit, is responsible for the Swedish National Agency for Education's work in providing targeted initiatives to school authorities and schools aimed at improving knowledge outcomes and goal fulfillment in the education system. In these targeted initiatives, the agency works in close dialogue with the selected operations.
As a manager, you will plan and follow up on the work based on regulatory letters and order mandates, ensure that established processes are followed, and that the initiatives are equitable for all school authorities while being tailored to local needs. Together with your team and with the support of the agency's processes, you will develop the operations so that the unit's mission is carried out effectively and purposefully, and you will lead your unit in a way that fosters engagement.
You will be the direct manager of approximately 20 qualified and dedicated employees and will be responsible for personnel, operations, results, and a substantial budget.

A key part of the role as unit manager is to collaborate with other units within the School Development Department and the agency. In the department's management team, you will work closely with your managerial colleagues and take responsibility for contributing to both the department and the agency as a whole achieving their goals. Your tasks will also include representing the agency externally and in the media.
You will work in our modern and spacious office in Solna Business Park. You may also have the opportunity to work up to 50% remotely.

In this job, you should have:
- An academic degree in education, political science, behavioral science, or another field deemed relevant by the agency
- Several years of managerial experience, including operational, personnel, and budget responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of and experience in the Swedish education system
- Good knowledge of and experience with initiatives related to school development
- Excellent ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.
It is advantageous if you have experience working as a manager in public administration and experience in a process-driven organization. Experience leading qualified employees in a knowledge organization is also a plus. We would appreciate if you have worked with and developed systematic quality work.

- Communicate clearly and directly to lead dialogue and motivate your employees
- Be a confident leader with good strategic abilities, while also being flexible and solution-oriented in daily work
- Be results-oriented and able to drive processes from start to finish
- Be collaborative and able to build good relationships.
