About this role
Do you want a role where you can combine strategic thinking with occasionally being involved in the execution? We are looking for an experienced manager for the Facilities and Safety unit. This is a role where you will lead the development of our facilities and safety processes and contribute to creating sustainable and suitable learning environments for children and young people throughout Skellefteå.
YOUR ROLE
As the unit manager for Facilities and Safety, you will lead an engaged team responsible for ensuring that our schools and preschools have safe, functional, and cost-effective premises. You have a strategic role where you plan, coordinate, and develop work related to facility matters – but also an operational aspect where you participate in projects, investigations, and processes. This could involve everything from project managing new constructions or renovations to preparing for moves into new or temporary premises.
As the unit manager, you are responsible for personnel, finances, and operations. This means that you lead and motivate employees in their daily work and create structure, direction, and consensus in a sometimes fast-paced environment. An important part of the assignment is to build on the high competence present in the team – while continuing to develop a culture characterized by collaboration, involvement, and job satisfaction. The assignment also includes executing, writing, and quality assuring service documents, investigations, and decision support related to the unit’s areas of responsibility. You represent the administration in various forums, which means you often act as an important link between operations, administrations, and committees.
In addition to facility issues, you have overall responsibility for the administration's safety work. This involves coordinating and developing processes that enhance safety in our operations.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
You have previously worked as a manager responsible for personnel, finances, and operations and have demonstrated success in that role. As a unit manager, you use your leadership to create clarity in the assignment, drive processes forward, and build a work climate where your employees thrive and develop.
You hold a relevant higher education degree, for example in urban planning, construction engineering, property science, or property economics – or a qualification that otherwise gives you an understanding of how facilities can be planned, built, and used effectively and tailored to operations.
To succeed in this role, you need to understand how projects and processes are driven – from planning to implementation and follow-up – and have a good financial understanding. You are analytical and structured, but also relationship-building and considerate in your leadership. With your engagement and presence, you build trust, collaboration, and participation.
The role requires good knowledge of Swedish and the ability to confidently present and explain complex issues both verbally and in writing to various groups. A valid driver’s license (Class B) is required for the position, as the work sometimes involves travel between various operations. You will also need to present a valid extract from the criminal record before employment.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
You will be part of the Education and Labor Market administration, where we together work to ensure that every child, student, and participant experiences good and equal quality every day.
As a unit manager, you are part of the management team in the municipal assignment department, where you, together with other unit managers, contribute to a holistic perspective, joint development, and close collaboration across unit boundaries. The workplace is located in the City Hall, where we work in a modern, activity-based environment. Here you will find both flexibility and a sense of community.
GOOD TO KNOW
We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer a few selection questions and attach an updated CV.
