The Role of Unit Manager with Us
Within the Environmental and Health Protection Department, we are undergoing an exciting transformation, and we are now seeking a manager for the Food and Catering Unit. This unit is responsible for food inspections as well as supervision and assessment in the areas of alcohol and tobacco, and currently consists of seven dedicated and competent employees. Together, they contribute daily to creating safer environments and ensuring safe food in Kungsbacka.
As the unit manager, you will ensure that the unit fulfills its core mission by leading, distributing, and following up on work. You will work closely with the operations manager and have overall responsibility for personnel, budget, and the development of the organization. An important part of your role will be to drive development and efficiency, with a focus on digitalization and innovation. You will lead the work on service development and actively contribute to the municipality's ambition to continuously improve our service for those we serve.
In this role, you will combine leadership with active participation in operational work. You will be responsible for regulatory activities related to the processing and supervision of food as well as alcohol and tobacco. A smaller part of the position will also include other tasks, such as development work within the administration. Together with the operations manager, you will engage in ongoing dialogue about what additional tasks need to be performed to contribute to the development of the organization.
Together with your employees, you will plan, prioritize, and develop working methods and processes to meet future demands and opportunities.
Your Profile

Your communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are very good and essential for the role. We place great importance on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who:
- has a university or college degree, or equivalent experience as assessed by the employer
- has experience working as a manager with personnel responsibility
- has a valid driver's license (B category)
It is advantageous if you have:
- work experience in the relevant field
- experience in driving development and change initiatives
- experience in public sector work
