About this role
Do you want to lead an operation that makes a real difference – while also enjoying a broad and developmental managerial role?
Are you passionate about property management, possess a secure leadership style, and thrive in a daily environment where strategic issues meet practical responsibilities? Then the role of Unit Manager in Operations might be just right for you. Here, you will lead an engaged team, develop an important community function, and contribute to creating safe, well-functioning environments for residents, employees, and businesses.
YOUR ROLE
As Unit Manager, you will be responsible for operations, personnel, and finances within the management and maintenance of the properties managed by the municipality. You will lead the daily work while also playing a crucial role in the department's strategic development. This means you will drive systematic improvement efforts where customer focus, long-term thinking, and quality are at the center.
You will work closely with both your own unit and other parts of the organization to ensure that operations function in a sustainable and efficient manner. As the organization develops, your assignment may also change, and you are expected to meet new needs and take initiatives that move the operations forward.
Being a manager in Skellefteå Municipality means working on behalf of the residents. You need to be able to combine clarity and long-term thinking with the courage to make decisions here and now.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone with previous leadership experience who feels confident in leading both people and operations. You may have been a project manager, team leader, or driven change initiatives with good results — what matters most is that you have documented experience of taking responsibility in a leadership role.
You have a higher education or other relevant training/experience that equips you well for the assignment. To succeed, you need to be skilled in communicating verbally and in writing, able to analyze and make well-founded decisions, and have an aptitude for learning new working methods and applying them in practice.
You are digitally proficient and work efficiently in various systems. A valid driver's license (category B) is required.
We would also like you to have knowledge of property management, and experience working in a politically governed organization is an advantage. Previous responsibility for personnel, operations, and finances is also a merit.
As a person, you are structured, decisive, and self-driven. You propel the operations forward, involve your employees, and create conditions for others to succeed.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
With us, you will become part of the Property Department – an operation with significant social responsibility and many points of contact. We work to create safe and functional environments where the municipality's operations can be conducted in the best possible way. Here, you will meet engaged colleagues with high competence and a strong interest in community service, sustainability, and development.
As Unit Manager in Operations, you will have a role that is both broad and significant. You will lead an operation that affects the daily lives of many people and help shape the future of Skellefteå.
GOOD TO KNOW
We recruit based on competence, focusing on experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer a few selection questions and attach an updated CV.
