About this role

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements secure care for youth. We operate youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you contribute to creating life-changing transformations. SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, accommodates school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems, as well as issues related to crime and substance abuse. Job Description SiS is currently undergoing extensive changes, with the organization developing on multiple levels simultaneously. We are evolving and adapting our work based on new and changing needs in both society and our own operations. We know that developing and engaged leaders are crucial for meeting today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. SiS Youth Home Vemyra is now seeking two unit managers for two of our departments. As a unit manager for one department, you will be responsible for the work within the department to ensure that established goals are met. You hold overall treatment responsibility for the young people residing in the department. Furthermore, as a unit manager, you are responsible for operations, personnel, and budget management for approximately 15-20 staff members in your department. Your leadership role also includes method development, documentation, and follow-up as key components. You will be part of the institution's management team and, in addition to your departmental responsibilities, will work towards the institution's overall development. You will have the support of a team leader, a treatment secretary, and departmental staff consisting of treatment pedagogues and treatment assistants. You will also participate in the institution's management on-call duty according to a rotating schedule. You are responsible for ensuring that common working methods and practices are used and adhered to, and you support staff in their work. You ensure that employees have the necessary competencies for the care and treatment provided by the department and the conditions to carry out their tasks in a good and safe working environment. Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have: • An academic degree of at least 180 credits, preferably in social sciences, behavioral sciences, or health sciences, such as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or other relevant academic qualifications. • Several years of experience working in operations focused on care, treatment, and safety, such as social services, healthcare and treatment, correctional services, or other relevant fields. • Documented experience as a manager with overall responsibility for operations, finances, and personnel. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to express yourself well both verbally and in writing, fostering dialogue, participation, and engagement. • A valid driver's license (B). It is advantageous if you have: • Experience working with the target group or experience in social services or psychiatry. • Experience in working with regulatory authority. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to express yourself well both verbally and in writing in Swedish. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. At SiS, we value good leadership. This means that as a manager and leader, you take responsibility for the whole, act as a positive role model, drive development, promote good collaboration, and communicate clearly.
