Are you ready to lead a development team while contributing to more sustainable travel? We are seeking an engaged Engineering Manager who wants to develop next-generation digital solutions to keep SJ rolling smoothly. With us, you'll combine technology, leadership, and social utility in an exciting and dynamic industry. Your Upcoming Role As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team of developers and technical specialists who develop and maintain our onboard operational tools. We develop in Kotlin for both front-end and back-end, and our infrastructure is built on Microsoft Azure. You will play a central role in shaping how we work with cloud services and software architecture. You will: • Ensure the team's delivery capability and that our technical solutions are robust, future-proof, and business-oriented. • Lead, coach, and develop team members through clear communication and goal-oriented management. • Work closely with product management, design, and operations to transform customer needs into value-creating solutions. • Contribute to architectural choices, technical decisions, and strategic development of our Azure platform environment. • Actively work as part of the team on continuous improvements, security, quality, and technical debt. Expectations for the Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone with a technical background who thrives in a leadership role. You understand the importance of reliable systems in a socially critical operation and are driven to create structure and direction in a technically complex environment. We would like you to have: • Experience leading software teams with responsibility for delivery and employees • Good understanding of system development, modern development methods, DevOps, and system architecture • Experience with cloud platforms – preferably Microsoft Azure • A background as a backend developer, ideally with knowledge of Java • Ability to create engagement, clarity, and collaboration within the team • Academic education from a college/university or equivalent experience It is highly meritorious if you have experience developing native Android applications, preferably with knowledge of Kotlin. With us, you'll work with technology that makes a difference – every day. We do this for the traveler who wants to get home to someone and for the colleague who wants to do their job without complications. Welcome to shaping the future of train travel with us! Application and Information Selection will be conducted continuously, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
