We work together with authorities, municipalities, businesses, and other stakeholders, focusing on Västra Götaland County and our 1.7 million residents. The County Administrative Board has a broad mandate and plays a very important role in several areas of society.
This includes the highly relevant challenges of regional growth, implementing the green transition, developing civil defense, and nurturing democracy.
The County Administrative Board is a regional government authority with approximately 1,000 friendly and competent employees. We operate in several locations in Västra Götaland, as well as throughout Sweden, as we are responsible for the IT operations for all County Administrative Boards.
Job Description
Do you want to lead our strategic work in the areas of energy and climate? We are looking for someone who is engaged and driven, with experience and expertise in strategic environmental work related to energy issues.
The County Administrative Board has a central role in regional energy and climate efforts. According to the Board's regulations, it is stated that the County Administrative Boards shall lead and coordinate the regional implementation of energy and climate policy, including the development of regional energy planning.
The role includes varied tasks and is suitable for someone who enjoys many contacts, both internally and externally. You also thrive in independently and focused analyzing and producing documentation, as well as responding to consultations. You contribute to and share your extensive expertise with a group of dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues. The work is qualified, and you will continuously develop new knowledge both broadly and deeply. In this assignment, you have great opportunities to contribute to the development of the field. It is important that you enjoy formulating issues but also that you can independently advance questions in projects or assignments where you contribute to solutions.
Your main responsibilities:
- Actively engage with municipalities based on the County Administrative Board's mandate. Support municipalities in the county with their energy planning work, including the development of municipal energy plans.
- Develop the authority's guidance for municipal energy planning as well as other steering documents and planning materials.
- Be responsible for responding to consultations regarding municipal energy plans, energy in comprehensive plans, wind power plans, etc.
- Respond to consultations related to energy (and climate), e.g., from the Government Offices.
- Collaborate with relevant sister units (primarily Civil Defense and Preparedness and Community Building) within the authority regarding our assignments to ensure a robust energy system for the county.
The department is continuously developing projects. Where appropriate, assignments as project leader within energy may also be relevant.
We are constantly developing our operations, and you should be open to the possibility that your tasks may change over time. Part of the position may potentially evolve based on your skills and experience in various areas related to the energy and climate transition.
Location: Gothenburg
We offer good opportunities for remote work during part of the working hours.
Travel is included in the position. We strive to use buses and trains as much as possible when traveling.
Qualifications
Requirements
- University degree in environmental science or equivalent education relevant to the tasks.
- At least 3 years of work experience in strategic environmental work related to energy issues.
- Good knowledge of energy systems.
- Good knowledge/experience from municipal operations.
- Experience in writing documentation and responding to consultations.
Meritorious
- Experience in municipal physical planning.
- Experience in work related to environmental goals.
- Knowledge and experience regarding civil defense.
