About this role

About the Workplace Svea Court of Appeal is the country's largest court of appeal with approximately 450 employees. The court's premises are beautifully located on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm. The court's main task is to review cases and matters appealed from the district courts within its jurisdiction. The court also reviews, as the sole and final instance, decisions from all of the country's rental boards. The court consists of eight judicial divisions, of which six are general divisions handling criminal and civil cases, and two specialized divisions. One of the specialized divisions is Division 2, where the Patent and Market Court of Appeal is also established as a special court. In addition to the Patent and Market Court of Appeal's legal areas, Division 2 is specifically focused on tenancy law, arbitration law, and particularly extensive dispositive civil cases. The division also handles general dispositive civil cases and other types of cases. Job Duties Svea Court of Appeal is seeking one or more lawyers to serve as rapporteurs in Division 2. The division handles all cases appealed from the country's rental boards. Svea Court of Appeal is thus the final instance in these cases and is responsible for legal development in the area. In the Patent and Market Court of Appeal established in the division, all cases appealed from the Patent and Market Court are handled, and the patent and market courts essentially handle all of the country's cases and matters within the legal areas of intellectual property law, marketing law, and competition law. Additionally, the division handles cases concerning the invalidity of arbitration and challenges to arbitration awards, the court's largest general dispositive civil cases, other general dispositive civil cases, and other types of cases and matters. This position is specifically focused on handling tenancy cases and dispositive civil cases, including cases concerning the invalidity of arbitration and challenges to arbitration awards. Handling certain other case types is also part of the job duties. Job duties consist of preparing cases, conducting legal investigations, presenting cases for decision, and drafting proposals for judgments or decisions. The work also includes being a minute-taker during hearings. Qualification Requirements You must have a law degree and be qualified as a judicial clerk (please attach any relevant certificate to your application). The job requires excellent legal knowledge, very good analytical skills, and excellent judgment. Previous work experience in tenancy law or arbitration law can be meritorious. You should be able to express yourself well in the Swedish language, both in writing and verbally. You should have a high sense of responsibility and great commitment to your work, and be able to work independently and carefully. It is an advantage if you are also development-oriented. The position also requires good collaboration skills and the ability to interact with parties in a correct and pleasant manner. To be considered for the position, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, responsibility, security awareness, and suitability. This means standing up for democratic values and the state's core values that govern the operations of Swedish courts.
