About this role

Defense Research Agency (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. Our research spans multiple areas, including underwater technologies, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive substances), military platforms including weapons and protection, and security policy analyses. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capabilities. About the Position As an electrical technician at FOI, you will support research projects with specialized contact installations, assembly, and wiring. The electrical installation is organizationally part of the Electronic Radio Countermeasures unit but operates independently across research projects in all departments and units. Our research covers a broad technological range, providing you great opportunities to develop creative solutions for varied technical challenges. In addition to direct contact with research projects, you will also collaborate with the workshop in Linköping for design and manufacturing of mechanical/electronic test platforms. Tasks may include: - Crimp and soldering of connectors for multi-pole and coaxial cables - Soldering, installation/removal of small electronic components and multi-legged circuits - Electronic assembly in equipment cases - Drawing electronic schematics and building simple electronic constructions - Material procurement - Basic mechanical work Since we test systems in realistic environments with field measurements, you may also get the opportunity to see your contributions utilized in practice. About the Unit You will be part of the Electronic Radio Countermeasures unit belonging to the Electronic Warfare division. We develop and research new systems in the radio area for protection against unmanned systems and radio-controlled threats, as well as develop jamming and protection techniques for positioning, navigation, time (PNT), and GNSS. Requirements: We are seeking someone with an electrical-telecommunications education, or other education or experience that FOI deems equivalent. Additionally, you have: - Experience with electronics product assembly and soldering - Good knowledge of drawing reading/writing - Computer proficiency - Good Swedish and English skills, both verbal and written As an FOI employee, you will have significant opportunity for personal influence, and it is expected that you are self-driven, curious about new technology and innovative solutions. Meritorious: It is meritorious to have: - Previous experience with similar tasks in industry, especially within defense - Knowledge in mechanical areas - Electronics CAD - Soldering certificate IPCA-A-610 in soft soldering, surface mounting, and circuit board repair - Relevant certificates in defense standards - Measurement and instrument skills What Do We Offer You?
