About this role

About the Role

Do you have a strong commitment to working with students in need of extra support and special accommodations? Would you like to help create a safe, pleasant, and developmental school day based on the needs and best interests of the students? If so, apply for the position of student assistant in a special education group!

Your mission

As a student assistant, you will provide daily support to between 6–10 students within the special education group who require special assistance.

You will work closely and collaborate with the student health team, special educators, and teaching staff to support the students.

Your role involves following and assisting students throughout the school day—from classes to breaks, lunch, transitions, and activities in after-school care.

Teachers plan the lessons and develop teaching materials, but you will play an active role in their implementation. You contribute to creating a safe and pleasant environment where students have the opportunity to develop both socially and academically. You will also participate in excursions and activities outside of the school premises and play an important role in ensuring the students' safety and participation in these contexts.

Your background

For this position, you are required to have:

  • A high school diploma
  • Experience working in a school setting
  • A good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience as a resource teacher, childcare worker, or student assistant
  • Experience working in a resource school or special education group
  • Experience working with students/young people in need of extra support and accommodations
  • A high school education focused on child and leisure or health and care
  • Knowledge and experience in clear pedagogical methods and low-arousal approaches

We place great importance on personal suitability.

Is this you?

You have a good understanding of the importance of quickly building trusting relationships with students to create security, trust, and a solid foundation for joyful learning. You are calm, stable, and professional, with a strong commitment to working with students who need special support. You remain composed and act thoughtfully in challenging or new situations, which contributes to a sense of safety for both students and colleagues. You collaborate well with others and see the value in close teamwork to promote students' development.

With your pedagogical ability and understanding that each student has unique conditions and needs, you adapt your methods and tools to meet each individual. You communicate clearly and simply with students, guardians, and colleagues, creating favorable conditions for cooperation and learning.
