About this role
**Description**
The adapted primary school is for children aged 7 to 16 who have an intellectual disability or an acquired brain injury.
In the adapted primary school, the education is tailored to each student's conditions and needs. At https://karlstad.se/forskola-skola-och-utbildning/grundskola/grundskolor/hultsbergsskolan, the adapted primary school serves students in grades 1-6, and all students primarily study subject areas.
Students in the adapted primary school are offered after-school care in the same way as students in regular primary schools. Part of the role also involves working in the after-school care, where you help create a stimulating and enjoyable environment after the school day ends. Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute with creative and meaningful activities that enhance the children's social development.
Are you looking for a varied job that involves being a reliable adult in our students' school day? Then you are the person we are looking for!
**Responsibilities**
As a student assistant, you have a varied and meaningful role where no day is the same. Your tasks may include providing educational support in the classroom, offering social support during breaks and activities, as well as providing practical assistance in everyday situations. In some cases, the work may involve supporting students with care needs or students who may exhibit challenging behaviors. Many of the students use alternative communication methods such as signs, visual aids, and eye tracking. This variety allows you to contribute to the students' development in multiple ways.
You will be present throughout the entire school day – in the classroom, during breaks, during transitions, and in other contexts where your presence makes a difference. The position also includes work in after-school care – before and after school, as well as during school holidays.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for someone who is a trained student assistant or has experience that the employer deems equivalent.
As a person, you find it easy to create security and good relationships with both students and colleagues, and you are accustomed to working independently as well as in a team. You are flexible and can quickly switch between different tasks – for example, from providing support to an individual student with special needs to leading an activity for an entire student group. You are responsive to the students' daily conditions and needs, and can adjust your approach accordingly. Your communication skills enable you to clearly explain tasks, calm in stressful situations, and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and guardians.
The work can sometimes be both physically and mentally demanding, and it is important that you have the ability to remain calm, create structure, and build trusting relationships. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the students' daily lives – a role that both challenges and rewards you.
With us, you will become an important part of creating an inclusive and inspiring school environment where every student has the opportunity to develop as far as possible.
