Job Description
As a teaching assistant, you work directly with individual students but also provide support in group settings. You follow the student throughout the school day, in both teaching situations and during breaks, ensuring the school day is conducted securely. You are available but do not preempt, allowing the student to solve situations independently when possible. You create a close relationship with the student to provide security during schooling while maintaining professional distance. You have a low-affective approach and are clear in your communication. You collaborate with teachers, student health services, and other relevant personnel with the student's best interests in focus.
Qualifications
- Child and Recreation Program or equivalent education assessed by the employer
- Police register extract required
- Secondary education
- Ability to work with people; listening, showing empathy and respect
- Ability to communicate clearly and exude credibility and self-confidence
- Ability to quickly learn new tasks and collect/manage information
- Ability to plan and organize work
- Adaptability to changing conditions
