As a student assistant at Filborna Adapted Upper Secondary School, your role involves being present, participating in teaching, being active, and supporting students throughout their school day. All students have an intellectual disability (ID) and are at different developmental levels. You will work as part of a team alongside special educators, teachers, and assistants. Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have an assistant education and experience working with youth with intellectual disabilities. You should have a strong interest in people and a good ability to build relationships. To succeed in this role, you need to be flexible, patient, take initiative, seek solutions, assist with care needs such as toilet visits and changing clothes, and be attentive to the individual needs of the students. You must have good knowledge of the Swedish language to communicate effectively with the students. Familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and the use of Total Communication (TAKK) is required. In our organization, you are expected to actively participate with the students and be utilized where you are needed most. This means you may be placed in both individual programs and national programs.
The role involves working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors, where you will use a low-arousal approach, which can be physically demanding. We would also appreciate if you have knowledge of playing an instrument and can collaborate with the music teacher as needed.
