Do you want to contribute to a world free from the sexual exploitation of children? ECPAT is a child rights organization working against the sexual exploitation of children. We are now seeking a lawyer with a clear child rights perspective.
ECPAT Sweden is a child rights organization that works against the sexual exploitation of children. We do this in several ways. We spread knowledge about the crime and prevent children and young people from being exposed. We engage in advocacy and influence work with decision-makers, and we collaborate with authorities, businesses, and other organizations. We also run three operational services: ECPAT Hotline, a web-based reporting site; Ditt ECPAT, a support line for children and young people; and ECPAT Vuxenstöd, a support line for parents and adults in contact with children.
Your main responsibilities:
As a lawyer, under the guidance of the program manager, you will:
• Contribute expert knowledge in the legal field on all matters relevant to the organization.
• Engage in advocacy work to detect and prevent the sexual exploitation of children.
• Identify key stakeholders and strategic methods for advocacy and information work, and participate in networks with politicians, authorities, organizations, and others.
• Gather, analyze, and process new knowledge and research in the field.
• Provide legal support to staff in our operational services, thereby contributing to the quality assurance of these services.
• Offer legal assistance to children and adults seeking help from our operational services when needed.
• Staff the ECPAT Hotline as necessary and based on personal suitability.
Your profile:
You are a lawyer with a strong commitment to and knowledge of children's human rights in general, and the right to freedom from sexual exploitation in particular. You express yourself easily in both spoken and written Swedish and English and are accustomed to using the Office suite. As a person, you are flexible, unpretentious, and meticulous. We are a small organization, which means everyone must be prepared to pitch in where needed. You are solution-oriented and have the ability to plan and drive your own work while collaborating internally and externally. Since the role of the lawyer is broad, it is an advantage if you are used to and appreciate handling and resolving legal issues across various legal areas.
To apply, you must have:
• A law degree (Jur.kand. or equivalent)
• At least three years of work experience
• Proficient knowledge of Swedish and English
• Commitment to and documented knowledge of criminal law, social law, or international law, preferably specifically within the field of child rights.
• Understanding of and knowledge about political advocacy work from a broad perspective.
It is advantageous if you have experience in:
• Work within public or political sectors
• Work in the non-profit sector focusing on child rights issues or issues related to sexual violence
• Work at a law firm with a focus on human rights law
• Experience in supportive conversations with children and young people.
