Special Education Teacher / Learning Support Specialist Sought for Stockholm International Academy Hägersten
About the School
Stockholm International Academy in Hägersten is a well-established F-9 school with approximately 210 students. The school is located in a quiet area near commuter train and bus, with two pleasant schoolyards and proximity to a forest area. We are an independent school with instruction in Swedish, following the Swedish curriculum.
We know that language is key to learning. Therefore, we work on language development in all subjects and particularly focus on early and systematic development of Swedish and English. We have an active school library, well-equipped specialized facilities, and staff who enjoy their work and choose to stay.
Our Student Health Team is central to the school's development work. We collaborate closely between school management, student health personnel, and work teams to create accessible, safe, and inclusive learning environments.
About the Position
As a special education teacher with us, you will play a crucial role in developing the school's pedagogical work at organizational, group, and individual levels. You will work in promoting, preventing, and addressing educational needs.
Responsibilities include:
• Driving the development of accessible learning environments in collaboration with school management and work teams.
• Mentoring and supporting teachers and after-school personnel through collegial learning, advising, and competence development.
• Actively participating in the Student Health Team and school attendance team.
• Mapping needs at school and group levels and participating in school values work planning.
• Supporting assessment and teaching adaptations.
• Conducting observations and pedagogical assessments.
• Being part of an engaged attendance team.
• Working with students individually or in small groups as needed.
• Responsible for pedagogical investigations and action plans, and collaborating with guardians and external actors (e.g., Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Social Services, SPSM).
• Ensuring and following up on reading-writing-arithmetic guarantees.
You will become an integral part of our Student Health Team, which includes school nurse, school doctor, school psychologist, speech therapist, counselor, and school leadership. The team meets weekly and works closely with the school's operations.
We are seeking someone who:
• Has a special education or learning support teaching degree.
• Has good collaboration skills with students, staff, and guardians.
• Demonstrates a low-affective, structured, and solution-oriented approach.
• Can work independently while contributing to collective development.
• Has the ability to elevate, support, and inspire others.
You will work closely with school leadership, be passionate about school development, take initiative, and want to grow professionally.
We offer:
• A positive and welcoming collegium where collaboration is natural.
• A student health team that is an active part of operations, not a side track.
• Clear structures, engaged school leadership, and good opportunities for influence.
• Permanent employment, 100%, with a probationary period of up to 6 months.
