About this role

What does CSN do? We offer one of the world's most generous student support systems. Thanks to this opportunity, everyone in Sweden can study regardless of their background. Here, you can contribute your skills and knowledge to serve the community and support our important mission to make education accessible. What do we offer? As an employee at CSN, you can combine work with leisure and maintain a good work-life balance. We provide you with flexible working hours, the option for remote work, and generous benefits. CSN is in constant development, as are all of us who work here. To achieve the best results, we operate and lead with trust as our approach. We are present from Kiruna in the north to Lund in the south, with our headquarters in Sundsvall. Would you also like to become one of us and contribute to the CSN team? Do you dream of a meaningful role? At the IT department, exciting development work is underway, with several major reforms that combine technological renewal, processes, and competence. In our system development, we utilize, among other things - distributed microservices architecture, container platforms, Java, JavaScript frameworks, MQ, and SpringBoot. We work with both custom-developed and standard systems and are currently building a completely new system support for the Transition Study Support. Based on the needs of the operation, you will plan and manage your own daily work. You will work in teams where we have high trust in each other’s abilities, learn from one another, and tackle challenges together. Professional development is important to us, and you will meet some IT colleagues who will share their development journeys! About the position Do you want to contribute to the stable and secure operation of essential IT services – and make a difference for students every day? As an operations technician at CSN, you will be an important part of our operations team – a team that serves as a hub within IT production at CSN. You will work in a Linux and Java-based environment, closely collaborating with other parts of CSN’s IT department and organization, allowing you to stabilize, improve, and learn new things – in a team that enjoys solving problems together. Responsibilities You will work to ensure operations by implementing deployments and changes, monitoring services and infrastructure, and responding quickly to alarms. You will use logs and metrics to identify deviations, prevent errors, and improve availability. In this role, you will handle incidents and operational disruptions, restore services, and document events and actions. You will also contribute to improving working methods and quality within the framework of our ITIL processes (incident, problem, change/CAB) as well as operations routines. CSN’s IT operations team is staffed during the day throughout the workweek. The position may sometimes involve working and/or being on call outside of regular working hours. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: • a high school education with an IT focus or equivalent skills acquired through professional experience, • current foundational experience in operations and monitoring, primarily in Linux environments, • very good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish, • good knowledge of spoken and written English. It is advantageous if you have: • post-secondary education in IT (vocational education or university), • current experience of approximately two years in operations, monitoring, and application management in larger and complex Linux-based production environments, • current experience in log analysis and log management, e.g., log collection, central log management, and dashboard management, • current experience working according to ITIL processes, • current experience managing complex relationships between IT infrastructure, business processes, and systems in public organizations with high requirements for information security, preferably with experience from an IT environment similar to CSN's, • current experience in handling IT security incidents, ideally in collaboration with security monitoring and incident management, • current experience in scripting and automation in Linux environments. To succeed in the role of operations technician, we seek someone who enjoys problem-solving, can remain calm when challenges arise, and collaborates well with others in a responsive and unpretentious manner. You are structured and meticulous, follow routines, and document your actions so that operations remain stable and secure even under pressure. We place great emphasis on your personal suitability.
