SKB is seeking a dedicated and qualified Waste Operations Engineer.
Where You Will Work
The Operations and Maintenance Department is responsible for the operation of SKB's nuclear facilities. In Oskarshamn, there is the Interim Storage Facility for Spent Nuclear Fuel, Clab, and in Forsmark, there is the Final Repository for Short-Lived Radioactive Waste, SFR.
Within the Protection and Transport unit, we are responsible for operational protection activities at Clab and SFR, as well as, where applicable, our transport system. This may include fire protection, radiation protection, or physical protection. Within the unit, there is the Protection, Chemistry, and Waste group, where you will play a leading role in waste management at Clab, both in ongoing operations and upcoming projects.
You will be part of a responsible team that helps and supports each other in radiation protection, waste, and chemistry issues.
What You Will Do
As a Waste Operations Engineer at Clab, you will have a central role in ensuring that our operations are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and acceptance criteria. You will work both strategically and practically with planning, documentation, and coordination of various waste streams—always with a focus on safety, quality, and sustainability.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience working with strategic issues related to waste management, preferably within nuclear operations or another regulated industry.
- A good understanding of applicable regulations and acceptance criteria related to waste management.
- Experience in producing documentation, control plans, and materials for regulatory reporting.
- Experience in planning and coordinating waste transports.
Experience in radiochemistry and material analysis is an advantage.
We believe you are analytical and systematic with the ability to see the big picture. You take responsibility, are quality-conscious, and possess good collaboration skills, as well as being accustomed to working in dialogue with both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you have a knack for expressing yourself well in both spoken and written forms, in both Swedish and English. In terms of leadership and coordination, you have experience leading assignments or activities with varying responsibilities, as well as the ability to mentor and support colleagues and contracted staff.
