About this role
Västerås City has removed the cover letter from the application process. We do this to create a better and more fair recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection work.
With us, you will have a varied role where you help create safe and well-maintained outdoor environments. We offer a work climate characterized by close collaboration and job satisfaction, where you contribute to improving the city's public spaces every day.
Your Duties
As a street operations and maintenance worker, you will play an important role in maintaining and caring for the city's central street areas. Your tasks are varied and include street cleaning, weed control, leaf management, simple repairs, and paving. You will also work with stormwater drains, winter sand removal, and minor construction projects.
Your Competence
We are looking for someone with previous experience in exterior property maintenance and/or street operations. You should have relevant education in the field or work experience that the employer can assess as equivalent. It is important that you speak and write Swedish fluently to communicate with our customers and summarize simple documentation of your work. We drive cars on the job, so a B driver's license with manual transmission is required, and additional certifications like B96 are preferred. Experience driving tractors or other landscaping machinery is meritorious. You have excellent customer service skills and always strive to deliver high-quality work. You work well with others and are accommodating in your approach. You proactively identify additional tasks beyond the daily plan and communicate them to your supervisor as needed. The role involves diverse tasks, and you are professional, self-motivated, structured, driven, and take pride in your work. You enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and are not afraid to put in effort.
We Offer
We value close collaboration within the entire unit, which creates task variation and a wonderful work environment. Together, we ensure the city's street environments are maintained to the highest standard year-round.
The Production area is the city's operational unit for maintenance, installation, and technical systems. The Maintenance and Operations unit is responsible for managing parts of the city's streets and parks, as well as exterior maintenance of municipal properties like schools and preschools. We are part of the Technology and Property Management, which owns the city's properties and is responsible for land and exploitation, property management, local supply, and maintenance and renovation of public spaces.
Here, you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate initiative in both large and small matters. We live our core values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you get Sweden's most important job.
