Project Description
PhD Subject: Technology and Health
We are seeking a doctoral candidate with a background in Science and Technology Studies (STS), human-robot interaction, human-computer interaction, or social sciences.
The project aims to develop a Nordic model for integrating social and conversational robots as welfare technologies in elderly care. Advanced AI-driven welfare technologies, including social and conversational robots, will challenge existing practical, ethical, and legal infrastructures or models for integrating welfare technologies in care systems for older adults.
As a doctoral candidate, you will conduct user studies on the integration of conversational robots in care and support services, explore the advantages and obstacles across technical, ethical, and regulatory aspects, assess the robots' impact on workflows in elderly care, and develop a proposal for a Nordic model of sustainable robot integration in long-term care. You will publish results in scientific journals and present at scientific conferences.
Supervision: Sanna Kuoppamäki and Sebastiaan Meijer are proposed as supervisors. A final decision will be made upon admission.
