Project Description
PhD Subject: Organic Chemistry/Chemical Science
We are seeking a motivated doctoral candidate with a strong interest in organic chemistry to conduct research in organic electrosynthesis, an innovative international research field where electricity can replace chemical reagents.
The research project focuses on developing new sustainable methods for selective organic synthesis using electrochemistry and organocatalysis, with potential applications in biomass valorization. Through your work, you will contribute to fundamental scientific insights and new methods relevant to environmentally friendly chemical synthesis.
Supervision: Helena Lundberg is proposed as the doctoral supervisor. Final decision will be made upon admission.

Admission Requirements
To be admitted to doctoral education, the following basic eligibility is required:
- Completed advanced level degree, or
- Completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at advanced level, or
- Equivalent knowledge acquired domestically or internationally.
- Completed course(s) in organic chemistry with both theoretical and laboratory elements at an advanced level with good grades. Laboratory thesis work in organic chemistry can be equivalent to laboratory course elements.
- Documented knowledge in organic electrosynthesis.

Selection
To succeed in your doctoral studies at KTH, you need to be goal-oriented and persistent. Candidates will be assessed on their ability to:

- Analyze and work with complex issues
Excellent English communication skills are highly meritorious, as are experiences with electroanalytical methods. Academic grades will be considered.
Personal qualities will be given significant weight after meeting eligibility requirements.

Application Process
Only those admitted to doctoral education can be employed as doctoral candidates. Total employment time cannot exceed four years of full-time doctoral education. A doctoral employee can perform limited administrative or teaching tasks (max 20%).
