About this role

Project Description Research Education Subject: Solid Mechanics ENDURE is seeking a doctoral candidate for the project "AI-Assisted Design of Fiber-Based Products". The industry needs interdisciplinary engineers with expertise in natural fiber material technology, product design, production engineering, and digital manufacturing/Industry 4.0. The doctoral network https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101227649 is a new Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network consisting of 12 doctoral candidates, bringing together 5 universities, 2 research institutes, and 8 industry partners from four countries. The project is funded by the EU's Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The doctoral candidate will be located at KTH and the industry partner Yangi AB and will receive unique skills development to lead scientific and technical advancement. The project creates an AI-based hybrid tool for diagnosis and prognosis in dry forming of cellulose fibers to bridge the gap between advanced simulations and industrial product development. Supervision: Professor Artem Kulachenko is proposed to supervise the doctoral candidate. The final decision will be made upon admission. Admission Eligibility To be admitted to doctoral studies (Chapter 7, Section 39 of the Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility: - Mobility Rules – Candidates must not have been residing or primarily active (working, studying, etc.) in Sweden for more than 12 months during the 3 years immediately preceding the recruitment date. - Have completed an advanced-level degree, or - Completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are at an advanced level, or - Acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way, within or outside the country. Meritorious Qualifications: - Knowledge of numerical methods (FEM) and programming (Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran) - Background in material mechanics or computational modeling - Experience with machine learning for physical fields/PDE/GNN and HPC/Big data - Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and potential as a teaching and laboratory assistant After meeting the eligibility requirements, significant weight will be placed on personal characteristics.
