Project Description
Research Education Subject: Biological Physics (BIOLFYS)
We are seeking a motivated candidate interested in biophysics and live cell imaging to work as a research engineer at the Advanced Optical Bio-Imaging Laboratory (https://www.testalab.org/) in Stockholm.
The job will focus on investigating various labeling strategies for quantitative super-resolution fluorescence microscopy of dynamics in living cells. The project will involve experimental work in biophysics and optics, such as microscope construction and usage. Microscopy-based analysis and image analysis will be key components of the project, along with imaging at state-of-the-art super-resolution microscopes.
The project will be conducted at the Department of Biophysics at KTH, located at SciLifeLab in Stockholm, a national hub for life science research with cutting-edge laboratories and a vibrant multidisciplinary environment.
Supervision: Ilara Testa is proposed to supervise the doctoral candidate. Final decision will be made upon admission.

Admission Eligibility
To be admitted to doctoral studies (Chapter 7, Section 39 of the Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility:
- Completed an advanced level degree, or
- Completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at an advanced level, or
- Acquired equivalent knowledge in or outside the country in some other way.

Information on Admission and Employment
Only those admitted to doctoral studies can be employed as doctoral candidates. The total employment period may not exceed full-time doctoral education for four years. A employed doctoral candidate can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks in education and administration. A new doctoral candidate employment is valid for a maximum of one year and can thereafter be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. For studies to be completed with a licentiate degree, the total employment period may not exceed full-time doctoral education for two years.
