The County Administrative Board in Södermanland is seeking an Animal Welfare Case Officer for the Animal Welfare and Veterinary Issues unit. Our unit works with issues concerning animal and human health. The unit is responsible for ensuring that farm animals and companion animals are managed in accordance with animal welfare legislation. The unit is also responsible for food and feed controls of primary producers, pre-approval of stable buildings, matters concerning supervision of dogs and cats, infectious disease issues, and other veterinary tasks. Work Tasks As a case officer in the Animal Welfare and Veterinary Issues unit, you will work with processing and controls related to permits for activities involving horses, dogs, cats, and other companion animals, inspection of animal transports, wildlife enclosure control, planned controls of farm animals. You will receive reports of animal neglect, conduct investigations and controls in reported cases, handle submissions from the police, and execute decisions on animal seizures. You will also work with pre-approval. The pre-approval area includes processing applications for pre-approval, post-approvals, and inspection of animal stables. The work also involves monitoring issues related to our operations and developing and improving internal processes. Qualifications and Profile We are seeking someone who has: - University education as an agronomist, ethologist, or environmental and health protection inspector. Alternatively, other education that the employer deems equivalent. - Good knowledge of relevant legislation and risks to animal welfare in various animal husbandry forms. - Good skills in the Office package. - Good communication skills and proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written. - Class B driver's license It is meritorious if you have: - Previous experience in case processing and independent work with control/supervision at the County Administrative Board, another government agency, or municipality - Knowledge of the Platina and DSK systems. - Training in construction and ventilation in animal stables. - Practical experience working with farm animals. About the Position This is a one-year temporary position starting April 1, 2026 (or by agreement).
