About this role

Department of Clinical Sciences Are you an animal caretaker or veterinary nurse interested in contributing your skills during the summer while our regular staff are on vacation? Welcome to apply to our small animal department! About the Job You will work at one or more of our units with typically occurring tasks for your professional category. With us, you will work evidence-based with access to modern equipment. We provide introduction so you feel comfortable working with us as a temporary staff member. During your employment, you will have experienced personnel as support by your side. During your temporary position, you may supervise both veterinary and veterinary nursing students. All employees in the small animal department work on shift schedules, which means work can be scheduled at any time of the day or night. Your Background We are seeking candidates who are animal caretakers at level 2 or 3, licensed veterinary nurses, temporary veterinary nurses, or veterinary nursing students who, by summer and before employment begins, have approved qualifications to work as an animal caretaker at an extended level. Clinical experience from working at animal hospitals is meritorious. You express yourself well both verbally and in writing in Swedish. You enjoy meeting pet owners in various situations and understand the importance of maintaining good customer relations. You are communicative with a good ability to create and maintain good relationships with colleagues. You are interested in participating in creating good conditions for basic education and research. You know how to handle an event-driven operation. Your approach is scientific with an interest in evidence-based care. As a person, you are structured, can handle occasionally high-pressure situations, have good self-awareness, and a willingness to contribute to the organization. About Us The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for basic education, research, and postgraduate education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, experimental animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Across all subjects, our operations span all animal species. At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced animal healthcare go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competitive animals, and production animals. We also spread knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we are developing the future of animal healthcare. Under one roof, healthcare is offered for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, activity-adapted facilities, we have access to advanced diagnostic imaging and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. The UDS operations also include a mobile clinic that travels to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
