About the position
Due to the expanding mission of the National Board of Health and Welfare, we are now establishing a new organization consisting of four operational areas that are organizationally placed directly under the Director General. We are seeking a Director for the area of Eligibility, Analysis, and Statistics, who will be responsible for driving development and knowledge management in line with the agency's new strategic direction and common priorities.
The operational area of Eligibility, Analysis, and Statistics is responsible for ensuring lawful authority exercise, managing and developing our registers and data, as well as compiling and analyzing statistics. By developing data-driven working methods and leveraging the opportunities of digitalization, we contribute to the development and strengthening of healthcare, dental care, and social services, and deepen the agency's analyses, translating statistics into usable knowledge.
As the Operational Director, you will report directly to the Director General and be part of the agency's management team. You will lead through three department heads, who in turn oversee a total of 20 subordinate unit managers. The operational area comprises approximately 380 employees.

We are looking for someone who has:
• An academic degree deemed relevant by the National Board of Health and Welfare
• Extensive knowledge of healthcare and social services, authority exercise, data management, and analytical work
• Several years of current experience in public governance and administration
• Experience in successfully driving systematic development and change work that includes working methods, processes, and cultural change
• Several years of experience collaborating with municipalities, regions, authorities, and other national actors
• Several years of current experience leading through other managers
• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
It is advantageous if you have:
• Good knowledge of and understanding of state governance and administration
• Experience in national and international representation.
Good to know
The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Your placement will be at the National Board of Health and Welfare's headquarters in Stockholm. In spring 2027, the agency will move to newly renovated premises in Solna Strand. The position is classified in a security category, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but having a foreign background is welcome.
