We are seeking someone who, together with others, wants to meet and support people of different ages and life situations in a changing part of Gothenburg.
About the Position
Do you want to help develop diaconal work in a changing part of Gothenburg? We are now looking for a deacon in the Church of Sweden who wants to work with pastoral care, support for socioeconomically vulnerable individuals, and create community through conversation groups and meeting places. You will participate in services, lead devotions, and meet people of various ages and life situations weekly. As a deacon, you will contribute to building relationships with different societal actors.
You will be part of a team of approximately ten people, including a fellow deacon. Here, different professionals collaborate closely in a creative work environment with ample opportunity to develop both the organization and yourself. The team has a special responsibility to work with faith and life. You will primarily work in and around Brämaregården Church and Topered Church, as well as in joint assignments and activities in Lundby Parish. Part of the position involves the parish's diaconal reception.
About You
We are seeking a deacon ordained in the Church of Sweden who:
...has both the will and ability to see and meet people of different ages and life situations with sensitivity and respect
...has interest in and/or experience with pastoral counseling and supporting individuals through life crises
...has interest in and/or experience in social work and wants to collaborate with colleagues at the parish's diaconal reception
...has good collaboration skills and enjoys working with colleagues from various professional backgrounds
...can work independently and take responsibility for structuring and driving work forward
...views parish work from a holistic perspective
...is rooted in the life and tradition of the Church of Sweden and shares Lundby Parish's core values
...is comfortable using digital tools and systems, such as Microsoft 365

About Lundby Parish
Located on Hisingen in Gothenburg, Lundby Parish is a diverse community where long-time residents mix with people from other parts of Sweden and new Swedes, each bringing their cultures, religions, and languages. New urban environments are being built, with significant migration and substantial socioeconomic differences. This diversity is reflected in the parish's activities as we work to create visible, attractive, and open meeting places where people can encounter themselves, each other, and God.
