Do you want to work with advanced marine propulsion technology in an international environment and help develop world-leading propeller systems? We are now looking for a Development Engineer for Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn.
About the position
In this role, you will be a central technical resource in materials, strength, fatigue, and product configuration. You will work broadly – from analyses, specifications, and technical investigations to testing, documentation, and customer-specific solutions. You will support the sales organization with technical inquiries, participate in development and improvement work, and act as a technical expert in dialogue with both internal functions and external parties.
The work involves close collaboration with product owners, design, calculations, project management, sales, and purchasing. You will also have regular contact with customers, classification societies, and suppliers. The position is based in Kristinehamn, and international travel may occur.
About you
We expect you to have:
• A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent
• Experience in product development or working with complex mechanical systems
• Strong expertise in materials: casting, forging, and manufacturing processes
• A good understanding of physics such as pressure, temperatures, and mechanical relationships
• Experience in technical documentation and report writing
• Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written
• The ability to work systematically, analyze complex information, and make technical decisions
Meritorious qualifications include:
• Experience in FEM calculations or structural analysis
• Experience in failure investigations
• Experience in defense projects or working with classification societies
You work methodically and meticulously, have endurance in longer technical processes, and are confident in your technical expertise. You enjoy solving complex problems, naturally build relationships, and thrive in a role with many points of contact. You are communicative, collaborative, and willing to stand up for technical positions. At the same time, you share knowledge, contribute to an open climate, and easily create good collaborations both internally and externally.
We offer:
• Flexible working hours and reduced working time
• Wellness allowance and additional support for sports events
• Subsidized lunch in the staff cafeteria
• Access to a newly renovated gym
• Parental pay and favorable insurance options
• An international working environment with high technical content and great development opportunities
With us, you will become part of a strong competence center in marine propulsion, where you will work with advanced technology and important future issues related to sustainability and energy efficiency.
