Region Uppsala is in the midst of an exciting transformation where our various security areas are progressively developing in line with environmental monitoring and experiences. Data protection is one of Region Uppsala's security areas that remains constantly relevant. Data protection work needs to continue developing to ensure Region Uppsala remains at the forefront of the field. Region Uppsala's Management Office is now seeking an employee who can participate in the region's data protection development.
Job Responsibilities
To maintain a systematic approach to data protection/GDPR, Region Uppsala needs to revise and build upon current work to address new technologies, requirements, and risks from a changing society.
A key task for the Data Protection Coordinator is to work closely with operations, providing support based on previous work experiences, legislation, recommendations, and new findings, such as developing data protection analyses and impact assessments. You will contribute to creating governing and supporting documents and developing Region Uppsala's systematic data protection approach. Through your proactive work style, you will help ensure Region Uppsala complies with data protection legislation and strengthens its long-term capabilities. Your work will be conducted in close collaboration with Region Uppsala's Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Information Security Manager (CISO).
The role also involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and strategically contributing to developing guidelines and support for Region Uppsala's various administrative units. The position is located in the Department of Security and Preparedness, Operational Protection Unit, at Region Uppsala's Management Office. The unit is responsible for security protection, signal protection, information security, data protection, physical security, personal security, and fire safety.
Your Qualifications
You have a relevant university degree or other education and work experience that we consider equivalent. You have experience working in data protection and systematic data protection efforts.
You possess strong competence in systematic work and an excellent ability to interpret and apply legislation. The role includes both strategic and operational tasks, requiring an analytical approach and the ability to see broader contexts and anticipate long-term consequences of actions.
To succeed in this role, you must have excellent collaboration skills and value cooperation within the unit/department, region, and with external partners.
Requirements
• Swedish citizenship
• Relevant university degree or equivalent education and work experience
• Experience in data protection work, including in a larger organization
• Knowledge of systematic data protection/GDPR and related legal frameworks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish
Meriting Factors
• Previous work experience in data protection/GDPR within public administration
• Background as a Data Protection Coordinator
• Experience with data protection and risk analyses
• Experience formulating strategic documentation and writing guidelines based on relevant legislation
We Offer
Some of our positions are security-classified, requiring a security vetting interview and background check under the Security Protection Act (2018:585). You may also be war-placed with Region Uppsala. Swedish citizenship is required. We have high standards for employee security and confidentiality awareness and place significant importance on personal suitability.
This is a 50% temporary position until 2026-07-01, with potential for extension.
The position may be placed in a staff role for managing special events, Regional Crisis and War Management (RKL).
