About this role

Swedish Radio's mission is to broadcast radio in the public interest, and we have 7.4 million listeners each week. Over half of the population engages with our content in some form every day, whether through live linear radio or on-demand, via FM, on our own digital platforms, or with other providers. We offer trustworthy knowledge, in-depth insights, company, and entertainment. Working at Swedish Radio means that you, regardless of your role, are a valuable part of an important mission. Swedish Radio P4 is a nationwide radio channel and is, by far, our most listened-to channel. It is utilized by the 25 local radio stations across the country that broadcast regionally. We are the fast and present channel that originates from our listeners' everyday lives while also taking them across Sweden and the rest of the world. We also hold a preparedness assignment. We are now seeking a Day Editor for P4 Värmland – an inspiring, fearless, clear, attentive, and proactive team leader. We are looking for someone who is passionate about local journalism and wants to help continue developing P4 Värmland into the obvious hub for news and current affairs, as well as an entertaining and engaging companion driven by working with news and understanding how important Swedish Radio is in people's daily lives. About the position and responsibilities The position of Day Editor at Swedish Radio P4 Värmland is a permanent full-time role with a start date to be agreed upon. As Day Editor, you will lead the channel's daily news work, which requires a deep passion for local journalism and an understanding of what engages the audience. You need to be adept at capturing both the significant news stories and trending topics, evaluating their newsworthiness, and coaching your colleagues to produce compelling and engaging content – both linearly and on demand. You must also be quick and clear in your communication with your colleagues, both those broadcasting live and those at the desk, so that they can likewise provide the audience with the latest updates effectively. A news-driven team player with a sense of what captures attention. As Day Editor, you will work in the present, alongside a Planning Editor who is focused on future content – your shared mission is to deliver timely news to the audience and then, when needed, deepen the stories, highlight the people behind them, and showcase consequences and constructive solutions. You are competitive, able to prioritize, and detail-oriented. You believe in journalism that revolves around people. The Day Editor is part of the channel's management team and is involved in and interested in working strategically to develop the channel. As Day Editor, you are also expected to step in as the responsible publisher during certain periods, so you should be an experienced publisher. We are looking for someone with: - Journalistic education or equivalent experience is required. - Experience in a supervisory role at a news editorial team is essential. - A valid B driver's license is mandatory. Why you should apply If you want to influence a very large and engaged audience with vital investigations and entertaining radio based on news and current affairs, P4 Värmland is a fantastic platform. Our listener base is substantial and stable, and we receive continuous feedback confirming that we succeed in delivering relevant and engaging news and current affairs.
