About this role
The Civil Engineer / Supervisor within AFNORD’s Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for providing technical and field-level supervision of civil and structural works during project execution.
This role ensures that all civil construction activities — including foundations, superstructures, site development, and infrastructure works are executed in accordance with design specifications, safety standards, and AFNORD’s PMO quality and governance procedures.
Acting as a bridge between the design, PMO, and construction teams, the Civil Engineer / Supervisor ensures alignment between engineering intent and field implementation, supporting timely and compliant project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and monitor civil and structural construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Review and validate construction method statements, ITPs, and work procedures submitted by contractors.
• Conduct site inspections to verify progress, workmanship, material quality, and adherence to safety standards.
• Provide technical clarifications to contractors and coordinate with design and PMO engineering teams to resolve site issues.
• Verify and maintain as-built documentation, redline drawings, and progress records.
• Support the PMO in progress measurement, schedule validation, and reporting from a civil works perspective.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, HSE, and project controls teams to ensure that construction activities meet project governance requirements.
• Assist in material inspection and approval in coordination with quality control engineers and consultants.
• Monitor and report on contractor performance, resource utilization, and compliance with project milestones.
• Participate in site coordination meetings, providing updates and identifying potential risks or bottlenecks.
• Support the PMO’s risk and change management processes, highlighting civil-related impacts and mitigation measures.
• Enforce AFNORD’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and quality in all site activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 6–10 years of experience in civil works supervision within EPC, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of civil and structural design, construction methods, and QA/QC procedures.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
• Familiarity with international and European codes (e.g., Eurocodes, EN, BS, ACI, ASTM).
• Strong site supervision and coordination skills, with the ability to manage contractors and field teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and construction progress tracking tools.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities in English; Swedish proficiency is an advantage.
Desirable Attributes
• Experience in data center, energy, or industrial facility construction projects.
• Knowledge of surveying, geotechnical coordination, and reinforced concrete works.
• Familiarity with BIM or digital construction tools for progress tracking and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary PMO and site teams.
• Strong awareness of HSE principles and site safety best practices.
