**JOB DESCRIPTION**
Do you want to help develop the future of preschool and schools in Sweden? We are now seeking an engaged and strategic section manager for the education area at the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR).
In recent years, SKR has gradually strengthened its position and established itself as a leading player in the education sector. SKR's mission includes driving development work, conducting advocacy, and providing advice and support to our members, always with the best interests of children and youth in focus. In the coming years, we will particularly emphasize contributing to a more equitable preschool and school system, as well as supporting municipalities in implementing the reforms decided by the government. Furthermore, the section actively works to ensure that municipalities have the right conditions to successfully implement these changes.
You will lead national development work in close collaboration with our members. As section manager, you will lead the network of school leaders. Presenting cases and collaborating with our elected representatives is part of the role.
As section manager, you will be part of the department responsible for the areas of social services, education, and labor market, which entails a broad and socially important mission. You will report to the director of social services, education, and labor market and participate in the department's management team. In this role, you will lead a team of approximately 17 employees responsible for issues related to preschool, school, and upper secondary education.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
We are looking for someone who has a deep understanding of the municipality's mission in the education sector and has experience leading operations at the municipal level. You have previously worked in a politically governed organization and are accustomed to collaborating closely with political leadership. You are a confident leader who sees the big picture, creates engagement, and contributes to operational development with a focus on quality and results. We seek someone with a relevant academic background.
You have the ability to lead change, create momentum, and achieve results in close collaboration with members and other stakeholders. You create conditions for municipalities to conduct purposeful and result-oriented development work that truly makes a difference for children and youth.
We are looking for someone who is courageous, communicative, and driven as a leader. You have the ability to foster engagement, direction, and transformation within organizations. Your leadership is characterized by responsiveness, humility, and trust. You also need to have a strong strategic perspective and the ability to navigate a complex environment to lead development forward.
